Seasons

For my first official blog entry, I thought it would be appropriate to share about my first weeks at Baylor. The first few weeks were rough. Waco was new and empty. Faces weren't familiar, my room was small and everything felt unstable. I had a lot of spare time, so I spent a good portion of it writing, singing, and playing my guitar. Before I had moved up to Waco, my parents mentioned that our friends George and Jennifer were going to have a dedication/memorial for baby Scott and Baby Nicholas. I had written a song for them for Scott's memorial and my parents helped inspire me to write a song celebrating George and Jennifer's journey and baby Nicholas. What I didn't realize was that this song would also parallel what I felt in this new situation. So, this song is about the times when life really sucks. The moments when you think it couldn't get any worse. Then, the sun peeks through. Your spirit livens and overcoming feels possible.

So, this song is for George and Jennifer, and all the others that experience seasons.

It was a never ending winter, times were tough.
Our hearts were so heavy, and our hands were rough.

It seemed the clouds would never clear
They stayed thick, the lightning drew near.
We all ran out of tears, its been one hell of a year.

But the clouds thinned
The Sun showed his face
The Spring comes,
and the winter fades

And all the sorrow is wiped away.
A new beginning is headed our way.
Its a bright, new, shiny day.
'Cause all the sorrow is wiped away.

Feet draggin' like a ball and chain,
just get me through today.
We didn't deserve all this pain.
Come on, wash this sorrow away

But the clouds thinned
The Sun showed his face
The Spring comes,
and the winter fades

And all the sorrow is wiped away.
A new beginning is headed our way.
Its a bright, new, shiny day.
'Cause all the sorrow is wiped away.

Come on sweet sunshine,
its a brand new day.
we made it through the winter,
and we're on our way.

Although pain overwhelms me,
it will not overcome me.

But the clouds thinned
The Sun showed his face
The Spring is here,
and the winter has faded

And all the sorrow is wiped away.
A new beginning is headed our way.
Its a bright, new, shiny day.
'Cause all the sorrow is wiped away.

Entering the blogging world

Hello all--

Thanks for taking time to explore and learn with me. I'm creating this blog for a few reasons...one is to keep family and friends updated on all the happenings of college life. The second reason is to share conversations I have while at Baylor. Many great conversations have come my way even in these first few weeks, and I don't want to forget them. They will be about anything and everything. All I promise is that they will be meaningful and hopefully, thought provoking. Sometimes they may just be conversations I have with myself, which are sometimes the best kind. Anyways, thats whats happening here.

Joy and Love with you always,

Hannah
